The lazy way of growing tomatoes tried and tested for years

Thanks to the selection and improvement of old crops, new varieties of tomatoes appear on the consumer market. Each variety is endowed with its own individual characteristics, including certain cultivation methods in greenhouse conditions or in the open field. But, such traditional methods of planting in the modern world are no longer relevant. A lazy way to grow tomatoes is considered a newer and more rational option. But, as practice has shown, in order to increase its efficiency, you need to follow the exact sequence of work.

Preliminary work

To obtain good tomato yields for lazy people, it will initially be necessary to carry out preliminary work on the organization of seedling growing areas and its further development. These places are prepared on the personal plot in the fall, with certain rules and sequence.

Preparing a place for breeding seedlings

To grow tomato seedlings in a lazy way, you will need to build a mini greenhouse for planting seeds. Its construction is performed in the following way:

  1. In the selected area, holes are dug 50 cm x 100 cm in size, up to 30 cm deep.
  2. Layers of rotted manure with fine straw are placed in each depression and compacted.
  3. Along the holes, without a bottom, a greenhouse structure is created from boards.
  4. Arcs are installed at the top of the greenhouse.
  5. The whole structure is covered with plastic wrap.

The created seat is left in this position until the beginning of spring.

Preparing holes for transplanting seedlings

For the constant growth of bushes, plants will also need to pre-prepare their location. To do this, a well-lit place with a deep bed of groundwater is selected on the personal plot. If the vegetable is grown in a shaded area, it will stretch upward. With a close occurrence of water, the root system will begin to rot from an excess of moisture.

So, having decided on the place, they begin to organize the holes for transplanting seedlings in this way:

  1. With a sustained distance of a little more than 1 meter from each other, holes are dug 0.4 x 0.5 meters in size, about 35 cm deep. In this case, the dug soil is laid next to the depression.
  2. The bottom of the pits is carefully loosened.
  3. Support stakes are installed in the middle of the recess.
  4. One bucket of anthropogenic soil in the form of humus and sand is added to the pits.
  5. To the upper level of the soil, the depression is covered with dug earth, into which you must first add 85 grams. nitroammophos.
  6. The contents of the pits mix well.
  7. The edge of a hole 6 cm high is formed from the remaining earth.

Having thus prepared a place for the constant growth of plants, it is left alone until the time it takes to transplant tomatoes for the lazy.

Planting seeds

The next year, after the organization of the seat, at the beginning of March, the film is removed from the previously prepared mini greenhouse. Further, the soil is carefully dug deep enough. Then well spilling the earth with a warm solution of saltpeter in proportions of 40 grams. per 1 liter of water, it is again covered with foil until 15-20 March.

After the specified time, they proceed to planting seeds. To do this, first, even 0.5 cm depressions are drawn along the greenhouse with a consistent distance from each other of 4–5 cm. Seeds of the same variety are sown in each furrow, while marking their names. Then the seeds are covered with a 1 cm layer of loose rotted manure. After watering the ground with warm water by the drip method, the greenhouse closes and is well insulated with 2 layers of covering material.

Important! When the first seedlings appear, it is recommended to thin it out from weak and diseased seedlings. Since only in this case strong tomatoes will gain more strength for further development.

Transplanting seedlings to a permanent place of growth

When the spring frosts pass and the seedlings reach a height of 30–40 cm, the seedlings are planted in the open ground.

in open ground

To do this, first along the sides of the prepared pits with an indent of 7 cm. With the help of a pointed stake, holes are made, up to 50 cm deep. At the same time, making sure that 4-5 plants fit in one planting place. Then, carefully removing the tomatoes from the greenhouse, shake them off and cut the roots. For the smooth entry of seedlings into the holes made, it will also be necessary to remove all the lower leaves from each stem. When all the seedlings are planted in the prepared places, it is recommended to shed it well with a strong pressure of warm water.

After the work carried out, it is recommended to mulch each near-stem circle of plants with rotted foliage or rotted sawdust. Then all the bushes of tomatoes planted in one hole are tied to a peg with one ribbon or twine.

it is recommended to mulch

A distinctive feature of this method of growing tomatoes from other similar methods is that it is ideal for any lazy person. After planting in open ground, the plants do not require pinching the bushes and frequent feeding. The fertilizers applied during planting are enough for a fairly long time, up to the setting of fruits. Also, those who have already tried this method claim that the plants do not need additional garter. The bushes themselves find a convenient growth location, intertwining with each other.
